The Australian 1st October 2006 REFUGEES who are granted only temporary protection in Australia suffer more extreme stress, anxiety and other mental health problems than permanent entrants, research has found. (Medical Journal of Australia)
From Tasmania, the story of a Salvadoran couple with a new baby but on bridging visas, they are not allowed to work or receive Medicare benefits. Member for the southern Tasmanian seat of Denison, Duncan Kerr, says fortunately the Tasmanian Government agreed to let Ms Ceren give birth at Hobart's public hospital.
